A last minute decision…my friend Brian is the executive/managing director of The Peninsula Players in the resort area of Door County on the shore of Lake Michigan. When I saw his Facebook post on the opening night of The Full Monty I had to buy a ticket. Lucky to get one and even luckier to find a hotel room in this summer resort area. Looking forward to a great evening!
Julie Barton’s new memoir DOG MEDICINE – How My Dog Saved Me From Myself is a compelling, thoughtful, beautifully written and worthy read for anyone who has suffered from depression. I will work with her Friday on her book tour. Her appearance at Boswell Books is at 7 pm.
One of my all time favorite authors is the delightful Peter Robinson. I worked with Peter early on in my author escorting career. He was funny, charming and thoroughly British. One or my most embarrassing moments was picking him up at the Madison airport, driving to a restaurant for breakfast and blithely locking my keys in the car with the engine running and the wipers going. Thank god he thought it was funny – I was mortified. Certainly broke the ice though. We had a great day and have corresponded through the years…he still reminds me of that story. Anyway, here’s his new book. Looking forward to reading it as well as watching the BBC series based on his books.
Today was day one to get the amazing and numerous arts group in Cedarburg together for a planning meeting for the WI Arts Board’s annual field trip to a city/region in Wisconsin with a thriving arts culture. A learning experience for the board and the community arts groups we visit. I nominated Cedarburg, WI as our destination this year. At this gorgeous Kubala Washatko Architecture studio we met for the first time with 15 amazing artists and arts leaders. We are going to knock the WAB members socks off on December 1 & 2. Thanks to Tom Kubala – architect, painter and current president of the Cedarburg Artists Guild. What a gorgeous space!
