A favorite author who writes hilarious books for kids will be in town tomorrow. So, off we will go to visit three excited schools and an evening event at Boswell Books. I predict a very fine, very fun day!
It was pouring last night and the traffic was awful but so glad I snagged a ticket to see Summit: Manhattan Transfer and Take 6. It was fun, upbeat, joyful and the harmonies were sublime. A sell-out crowd at the Marcus Center.
Another day another fun lunch with a group of Junior League friends at our monthly Lunch Bunch get together at Smyth in the funky/cool Iron Horse Hotel. A great group of ever-changing attendees with a lot! to discuss. A well-needed break after three separate meetings in the morning.
One of the nice things about owning a PR business is the opportunity to get to know and love lots of media friends. One of my favorite people is long-time anchor at WISN-TV Kathy Mykleby. Always great to catch up over lunch at some new fun place like yesterday at the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel. A great lunch with someone who makes me laugh!
Two very busy days working with children’s author Salina Yoon all over Greater Milwaukee talking to K-2 kiddos at six separate schools. Looking forward to working with her!
I don’t often take on publicist roles with authors – just not enough time. However, when Daniel Goldin, proprietor of Boswell Books recommended that author David Mathews contact me about his memoir and I met him over coffee I said yes. He is a pleasure to work with and his take on online dating in mid-life is both honest and hilarious. I think he has a winner with this one!
Looking forward to a leisurely vacation driving up the West Coast of Lake Michigan to the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island then a return trip down Wisconsin’s East Coast of Lake MIchigan. The leaves should be glorious and The Grand Hotel a fancy-schmancy step back in time. No cars allowed on the island, but formal dress for dinner is required.
As a board member of Festivals of Cedarburg I really love our many festivals and events every year. Today is the final day of Oktoberfest and a perfect autumn day to get out and enjoy oompah music, German dance, sauerkraut eating contests, currywurst, German beers and of course the crazy Glockenspiel guys. The more they drink the redder their cheeks and wackier they become. This is just a fun day to wear a cozy sweater and celebrate fall.
Yesterday was great fun with author Tania del Rio and illustrationist Will Staehle on book tour. Two great school visits with middle-schoolers and a library event. Even had lunch with Will’s parents who were in town. This new book is part of a planned trilogy and may become a movie. It was just a long but pure fun kind of day.
Today was a delightful (yes, I admit, exhausting) 11 hours. Why? Because I got to work with two terrific people who are writing an amazing series for anyone 7-70. Tania del Rio is a cool girl writer and her buddy Will Staehle is an amazing illustrationist. They have created Warren the 13th and it is going to be da bomb! The kids at all three schools we visited today were enthralled and thrilled. I’m tellin’ you…this is a perfect Halloween gift for your favorite kiddos.
